What have you improved on your bots since the release? We try to add a little more joy to the experience of giving recognition to your team! This includes being able to send fun GIFs as “thank you”, and letting users customize the responses that Growbot sends back (to tailor them more to your company culture). This will help educate the user, and prevent frustration. It’s important for bot designers to explain what the bot’s domain expertise is - exactly what it can and cannot do. What kind of problems do you see in the interaction between people and bots? People expect all bots to be able to answer all kinds of questions. But sometimes, they need to be nudged a little. You want to have a product that people use automatically, a learned behavior. Which problems did you face while developing bots? We’re constantly in development, but probably the biggest issue I face is trying to figure out ways to remind people to use the bot without driving them crazy with lots of messages.
The development process of the Growbot team uses a custom set of tools. Since their launch the growth has been steady in 2016. The bot is available in English and has been installed in over 8,000 Slack teams. Users of Growbot are mostly located in the US. It listens to keywords like “props” and “kudos”, and responds back in ways that inspire a pile-on of support from the other channel members.Īll the data is stored in one place and everybody can check who is receiving the most praise from peers & managers.
